Stuck in a Snow Storm in Northern Pakistan? Here is What you Should do

Snow storms are common in Northern Pakistan during the Winter season. They can be sudden and extreme and can cause travelers to get stranded on the road.

If you're stuck in a snowstorm, it's important to take steps to stay safe and warm. Here are some recommendations:

Stay in your vehicle:

If possible, it's best to stay in your car as it provides some shelter from the snow.

Keep yourself warm:

Wrap yourself in a blanket or any extra clothing, if you have it in your car. Try to move your arms and legs to increase blood flow and stay warm.

Do not leave the Heater on:

Heater releases Carbon Monoxide, which is extremely poisonous. A high percentage of carbon monoxide can kill a person. It is a colorless and odorless gas which makes it difficult to detect. It is advisable to not leave your car heater on if you are stuck in a snowstorm.

Conserve fuel:

If you need to run the engine to stay warm, try to do it in short bursts rather than continuously. This will conserve fuel and reduce the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Stay visible:

Turn on your hazard lights so that others can see you. Tie a brightly colored cloth to your antenna or door handle to make your vehicle more noticeable.

Call for help:

If you have a cell phone, call for help. If you don't have a phone, honk the horn frequently to attract attention.
